We are recruiting a Design Quantity Manager (Tender Phase) for one of our major clients, a well-established company in the Lugano area.

DUTIES AND ACTIVITIES
• Manage the entire process of preparing and updating the Bill of Quantities (BoQ) during the bidding phase, ensuring its completeness, accuracy, and traceability.
• Develop, organize, and structure the Bill of Quantities in accordance with the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), the technical documentation, and the contractual requirements.
• Analyze and verify the bills of quantities provided by the Client, identifying any inconsistencies, omissions, or significant discrepancies.
• Perform thorough checks—both comprehensive and on a sample basis—on the quantities with the greatest financial impact.
• Define the structure of the bill of quantities if it is not available, establishing coding criteria, levels of detail, and measurement standards.
• Coordinate or directly carry out quantity take-off activities, ensuring the reliability of data extracted from project documentation.
• Continuously monitor changes in quantities throughout the entire bidding process, ensuring ongoing alignment with project developments and the construction solutions adopted.
• Collaborate with designers, BIM specialists, and the Cost Estimation team to share design assumptions, validate quantity data, and ensure consistency in information.
• Use quantity take-off software, document management tools, and BIM models to extract and manage quantities.
• Support the team in preparing the financial proposal, contributing to cost analyses, assessing material, equipment, and resource requirements, and determining the final bid price.
• Participate in identifying tender risks, contributing to the definition of contingency plans and the evaluation of key economic assumptions.
• Ensure rigorous document management of the bill of quantities, maintaining a revision history and full traceability of changes throughout all phases of the tendering process.REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or equivalent.
• Significant experience in preparing and managing Bills of Quantities and performing quantity take-offs.
• Proven experience participating in competitive bidding processes for infrastructure projects, complex construction projects, or Design & Build projects.
• Knowledge of the main tendering processes and methodologies for preparing technical and financial proposals.
• Familiarity with WBS and CBS structures and with quantity measurement methods.
• Good knowledge of the technical standards used in the European and Swiss markets will be considered a plus.
• Experience using quantity take-off software, such as STR Vision CPM or equivalent tools.
• Ability to use BIM models for quantity take-off and advanced data analysis tools, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent knowledge of Italian and English.
• Knowledge of German and/or French is a plus.PERSONAL SKILLS
