We are recruiting aSenior Underground Works Technician / Tunnel Technician for one of our key clients, a well-established company in the Lugano area.

DUTIES AND ACTIVITIES

• Initial assignment within the Technical Bidding Office, with responsibility for preparing technical and financial proposals for new underground construction projects and tunnel rehabilitation projects.

• Analyze the bid documents, interpreting the specifications, design drawings, bill of quantities, and schedules to determine the best technical solutions.

• Collaborate with the technical team, estimators, consultants, and specialists to define the bid strategy and prepare the necessary documentation.

• Prepare economic analyses, cost estimates, and plans for project resources and timelines.

• Identify technical challenges and propose solutions for improvement through value engineering and the development of alternative implementation methods.

• Prepare technical reports, drawings, and supporting documentation for bids.

• Coordinate technical matters with external designers, suppliers, and consultants involved in preparing the bids.

• Leverage the experience gained on tunneling construction sites by preparing technical references to be included in the bid documents.

• After the contract is awarded, assist with the transition from the bidding phase to the implementation phase, ensuring the technical continuity of the project.

• Participate in the operational planning of construction site activities and verify the proper implementation of the solutions developed during the bidding phase.

• Support the technical management of the construction site, overseeing project documentation and serving as a technical liaison between the contractor, the project management team, and the client.

REQUIREMENTS

• Technical diploma or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or an equivalent field of study.

• Practical and recent experience in managing underground construction sites, gained as a Site Manager, Construction Manager, or in a similar technical role.

• Proven experience in conventional tunneling; familiarity with TBM projects is preferred.

• At least 2–3 years of experience in technical cost estimation or in the operational management of infrastructure projects in the tunneling sector.

• Excellent ability to analyze bid documents, specifications, bill of quantities, design drawings, and schedules.

• Familiarity with preparing technical proposals, reports, cost estimates, and technical and administrative documentation.

• Strong operational focus and firsthand knowledge of construction site dynamics; candidates with practical experience, rather than solely design experience, will be viewed favorably.

• Willingness to travel and relocate as required by project needs.

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.

• Excellent knowledge of the Italian language.

• Knowledge of German is a significant advantage; knowledge of French will also be viewed favorably.
